Starting with August 2016 the project "Flora of Bavaria – Data flow DWB and FIS Natur" is superseded by the project Flora of Bavaria – Data management DWB and concept development Flora, starting with May 2018 by the Coordination office for flora conservation in Bavaria and starting with August 2022 by the Coordination office for the Bavarian flora.

In October 2013 the three-year project "BFL – Data flow DWB and FIS-Natur" started. The goal is to set up a long term bioinformatic and curatorial infrastructure for data mobilisation, management and archiving of floristic data of Bavaria.

One of the achievments of the project will be the archiving and publication of presence and distribution data of plant species collected from the 18th century onwards for future generations.

The project will develop unique work flows including data collection by volunteer experts in the field and data management at the SNSB IT Center located at the Botanische Staatssammlung München. Thus, professional scientific and technical assistance is ensured. The Diversity Workbench (DWB) is installed as a virtual working environment and database management system to quality-control and process the Bayernflora data on a long term base. Curatorial assistance by volunteer experts is highly welcomed and will be supported in workshops and meetings. The data workflow includes the transfer of data into Fachinformationssystem Naturschutz. The work is done in close cooperation between the project partners and participating stakeholders.
