Minutes
Responsible for minutes: Wolfgang Diewald, Marcel Ruff, with input from all participants
TOP 1 Status quo: data mobilisation (generation of new data, processing of historical data)
- Czech partners
- number of records in PLADIAS: 605.000
- number of records 2019 from Czech locations: 20.000 (will be imported in PLADIAS in spring)
- in PLADIAS only data from Czech locations and within a 100 m range outside of the borders of Czech Republic can be managed; thus there are not very much data from Bavarian locations kept in PLADIAS and that data are under a closed license, therefore currently **** verstehe ich nicht **** on action has to be taken.
- Further data not kept in PLADIAS from Bavarian locations (e. g. by M. Lepši & P. Lepši) are existing. They will be prepared and delivered to Marcel (cc: Tanja Weibulat and Wolfgang Diewald). They will not be added to BFLportal01 as this project is for bavarian data only. They could be provided via an export in a structure suitable for PLADIAS template tables. **** verstehe ich nicht ****
- Bavarian partners
- number of records in DiversityCollection: 316.000 (< 12.000 with point coordinates)
- number of records 2019 for the Bavarian forest region (FSG project): 7490, all with point coordinates; incl. 496 from Czech locations; Czech data will be exported and given to Milan Štech and Zdenek Kaplan, they will not be imported in PLADIAS, but visualized in the common maps).
- number of records 2019 for the Bavarian forest region (Klotz, BASG): ?
- number of historical records to be processed in 2020 (Nationalpark Bayerischer Wald): 50.000
- number of historical records to be quality-improved in 2020 (Florein database Diewald --> updating existing records): 80.000
TOP 2 Status quo: occurrence data processing until data provision
(technical improvements, ABCD mapping, withhold of data not assigned to taxref-numbers)
- Czech partners
- PLADIAS data from Czech FFSG locations, together with very few data from Bavarian FSG locations could be provided for GBIF via Diversity Workbench data pipelines. An export of PLADIAS data from Czech (and Bavarian?) locations would be necessary. Data and license restrictions could be met (e. g. point data with a coarser accuracy). Each data package send to GBIF gets a DOI which can be cited.
- Bavarian partners
- In the future only taxa which are hosted in the bavarian taxon list will be exported. The suggestion to provide an export only with data converted to accepted names, would make a separate export and a new data pipeline necessary. Data will be the translated to accepted names by czech partners via the latest taxon name list version provided by the rest web service.
- Export package will be provided with taxon-ID, ABCD-handling will be improved, REST-webservice provides taxon-ID
- Proposal: same export as now, but but with ID (identification/references-field
- information on the geographic accuracy ("Unschärfe") will be exported in the future; it will be shown in exact value (meters) and as text (value for quadrant) ###eigentlich geht es hier um die Genauikeit von Punktkoordinaten einerseits und die Quadranten-Unschärfe andererseits MR: Quadrantenunschärfe ist immer ca. 12,7 km bei U und etwas weniger bei S, W, etc. Punktunschärfe ist immer ca. 2 km? entsprechend 2 Stellen hinter dem Komma.###
- as an example of “Unschärfe” concerning quadrants see Daten der Biotopkartierung
- accuracy of coordinates will be shown in exaxt value (meters)
- a new export of biocase data with these changes is planned for january.
TOP 3 Status quo: on management of taxonomic backbones
(challenge: names with p.p. concepts (1.400 datasets)###
- Czech partners
- FSG consensus backbone of taxa for PLADIAS map presentation is hosted by Milan Štech
- Bavarian partners
- number of BFL taxref entities for the Bavarian forest region: 1736 accepted names (1255 on species rank)
TOP 4 Status quo: on common web presentation of the project
- Any wishes or proposals for the modificatiosn of the web presentation can be communicated to (wer ist ansprechpartner dafür?)###.
- Work on the project website is in progress. The text will be in Czech and German, main chapters also in English. At the moment the German text ist not satisfying. The text of the main chapters should be finished and translated to German by Czech partners as soon as possible. Text blocks on the Flora von Bayern website can be used as a template. Corrections of German language will timely be made by Cornelia Straubinger (with assistance of Wolfgang Diewald and Dagmar Triebel).
- Plant descriptions/characteristics will be written in Czech and then translated into German. Creating this text could be done in DiversityDescriptions in a more structured way. Diversity Description provides a flexible data model, characters can be defined an translations can be automazied. Examples for applications of DiversityDescriptions: Heilpflanzen-Quiz, DEEMY
- Plant fotos from the region will be completed. Milan Štech started with common plants.
TOP 5 Status quo: "in situ" floristic status categories and processing
- Czech partners
- Floristic status will not (###habe ich das richtig verstanden? MR: das ist an mir vorbeigegangen###) be indicated in the maps at the project website but is necessesary for writing the plant descriptions.
- Bavarian partners
- Data exports provide several entries for status: original status and processed status. The last status is the one to be used. At the moment there is no consensus if all entries (original and processed status) should be exported or only the first and the last. An additional text field in ABCD (MeasurementOrFactText) will contain the information of the sequence of the status.
- A "translation" table for right conversion of status entries from DiversityCollection to PLadias is provided.
TOP 6 To Dos and priorities
- The obligatory paper we fixed in our project application is suggested to be published in Biodiversity Data Journal Data Papers. It should contain all we discussed today, describe the data pipelines and desribe the management of two kinds of checklist and different status systems. The draft of this paper should be written during the second half of next year.
- Milan Štech plans a separate paper about the FSG project in one of the serials of ČBS (Preslia).
- A presentation about first results of the FSG project in front of the Bayerische Botanische Gesellschaft should be done in 2021.
AOB
- The need to (internally)document FSG-related data pipelines and data flows is emphasised.
- The partners will discuss the option to publish a data paper in the Biodiversity Data Journal (e.g. on challenges with FSG data and a description of the datasets involved)
- The date for the submission of the first annual reports is December (first week). The reports should be very short and be coordinated with Radka Bunešová and Katka Zemanová.
